Corporate Services
The mandate of the Corporate Services division is to provide leadership and financial management oversight for the Department of Community and Government Services (CGS) to ensure sound management of public resources. To deliver this mandate, the division will continue to build a strong and capable workforce, strengthen its capacity and competency and improve internal controls and excellence in budget management.
The Corporate Services division is structured into two organizations:
- Financial Services consisting of financial management, reporting, accounting and administrative services; and
- Procurement Services for acquisition of goods, services and logistics.
Financial Services
The Financial Management Sector provides strategic financial analysis, advice and guidance to all branches and regions within CGS. The Sector works in strategic partnership with the Deputy Minister, Chief Financial Officer, Program Assistant Deputy Ministers, and Regional Directors to ensure sound financial management and the optimal use of financial resources within the Department.
The Financial Operations Sector provides efficient accounting operations and revenue collection services in addition to travel operations related to headquarters as well as advice in support of CGS’s strategic and operational objectives.
The External Reporting Sector provides leadership for year-end financial reporting, internal controls and audits performed by the Office of the Auditor General, the Government of Nunavut internal audit teams and support CGS organizations with advice on audits in their respective areas of responsibility.
