The Nunavut Archives Program has preservation and access responsibilities for the written, sound, graphic and digital records of both the Government of Nunavut and donated non-government records. The program also provides technical advice and assistance to communities on archival matters including the Archives Council of Nunavut.
Nunavut's Territorial Archivist chairs a public body mandated by the Archives Act called the Public Records Committee. The committee's primary role is to review and approve records disposition forms and related policies; it makes recommendations concerning the transfer of government records to archival holdings.
