Mould remediation at the Iqaluit International Airport

Following heavy rainfall in late July, mould was discovered in the roof of the airport’s security area. This area will be closed temporarily as a result of remediation work.

Starting Friday, August 5, passengers leaving Iqaluit on flights to Ottawa or Montreal will be accommodated in a temporary security room before boarding.

The mould was discovered inside the ceiling cavity, and it did not and does not pose a risk to the safety and well-being of passengers or staff. The affected area will be sealed off and evacuation ventilation will be installed to prevent any indoor air quality problems during remediation.

Passengers can expect congestion where the temporary security line-up, oversize baggage screening and Canadian North’s operations all come together.

Repairs should be completed by August 19. Your patience is appreciated as we work to ensure a safe and healthy space for passengers and employees.
