Become a certified Inuksiutiliriji

Do you have knowledge of Inuit hunting, stories, games, sewing, tool-making, drum dancing, and traditional uses of plants? If so, did you know that you can become a certified Inuksiutiliriji?

Inuksiutilirjiit play a vital role in the development and education of our youth. They provide guidance, support, leadership, knowledge and skills that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Certified Inuksiutilirjiit are members of the school education staff, alongside the principal, vice principal, counsellor(s), teachers and student support assistants.

The district education authorities work with schools to identify and recommend Elders and younger people to the Minister of Education to be certified as an Inuksiutiliriji.

For more information on how to become a certified Inuksiutiliriji, please email dea_support@gov.nu.ca.
