Teacher Appreciation Day 2023

Today, The Department of Education is celebrating National Teacher’s Appreciation Day. Teacher Appreciation Week will also be celebrated from May 8 to 12, 2023.

While recognition of the dedication and key role that teachers play in the lives of young Nunavummiut occurs throughout the year, Teacher Appreciation Day is a special day to honour and celebrate the hard work teachers across the country play in students’ lives and communities.

Schools across the territory have planned special events to show their appreciation of the integral role teachers play in the academic and personal growth of Nunavummiut.

Depending on the community, events planned include: special breakfasts, potluck lunches, country foods, crafting special gifts, cards and banners, draws for gift cards, special games, and a staff appreciation board.

Join the Department of Education in the celebration of our current, former and future teachers and their dedication to the development of our young Nunavummiut!
