Iqalugaarjuup Nunanga Territorial Park Summer 2019

Nunavut Parks and Special Places “Learn to…” are back at Iqalugaarjuup Nunanga Territorial Park in Rankin Inlet! Different activities are planned every Saturday at 1 p.m until the end of August 2019.

Learn to Make Mikku

This session will teach participants how to prepare caribou meat for drying, to make mikku.

Saturday July 6, 2019

Learn about Traditional Rock Uses

This session will be held at the Thule site, to look at and learn about the different ways Inuit traditionally used rocks.

Learn to Make Pipsi

This session will teach the participants how to make pipsi (dried fish).

Learn to Throatsing

This session will teach participants how to throat sing and the meanings behind these songs.

Learn to Collect Qulliq Wick, and Light a Qulliq

This session will teach participants which particular type of plants to collect to use as wick for the Qulliq, and how to light the Qulliq.
