Environment Celebrations in Rankin Inlet

Department of Environment staff in Rankin Inlet invites the public to participate in activities celebrating our natural environment at the Iqalugaarjuup Nunanga Territorial Park on Saturday, June 17.

Participate in the “Learn To” event at the Elder’s Cabin in the morning and learn how to use a GPS in setting up a small geocache.

In the afternoon, listen to an Elder who will share valuable information about the environment. This is a great opportunity to learn about the hunting grounds around Rankin Inlet for caribou, seals and geese, and the best areas for trout and char fishing.

Consistent with the aim of Nunavut Environment Week and World Environment Day, these celebrations aim to encourage people to take action to help preserve, protect and restore our environment.
