Grise Fiord Celebration of the Park Day 2023

Across Canada, Canadians celebrate their federal, provincial, and territorial parks on Parks Day. This year in Grise Fiord, the proposed Napartulik Territorial Parks first Celebration of the Park Day will be on Friday, July 28, 2023. We will be hosting the event outside the Hamlet Office from 3pm – 5pm with a lighting of the qulliq, BBQ, and prizes.

This is the perfect time to step away from electronics and smartphones, connect with friends and family and spend a day celebrating and enjoying all that Nunavut Parks have to offer.

THE HONOURABLE DANIEL QAVVIK

Minister of Environment

Daniel Qavvik was elected in the general election held on October 25, 2021, to represent the constituency of Hudson Bay in the 6th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. Prior to his election, Mr. Qavvik was employed as a Conservation Officer with the territorial Department of Environment. Mr. Qavvik is a graduate of Nunavut Arctic College’s Environmental technology Program. Mr. Qavvik is a long-time search and rescue volunteer and community harvester. Daniel and Margaret Qavviq are the proud parents of Daniel, Jacquinta, Madalie, Stella and Rosalinda.
