Nunavut Liquor and Cannabis Commission’s Rankin Inlet store opening

The Nunavut Liquor and Cannabis Commission will officially open its Rankin Inlet store on December 4, 2021.

Opening this store is consistent with the Government of Nunavut’s commitment to help change behaviour towards binge drinking by liberalizing access to lower-alcohol content beverages, while disrupting bootleggers. In a 2017 plebiscite 75% of Rankin Inlet voters were in favour of opening a store.

On Saturday, December 4, the store will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Beginning on Tuesday, December 7, the store’s regular opening hours are noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesday to Saturday.

In conjunction with the opening of the new store, the NULC is providing the community with numerous educational resources about the responsible and safe consumption of alcohol.
