Overview
A survey of the high points in Nunavut’s incredible history, this course is a primer in Nunavut governance and culture, with strong emphasis on the Nunavut Land Claim Agreement (NLCA). Ideal for all GN employees, it enables participants to better understand the structure of the GN, as well as the functions of its departments and the roles of the numerous boards, agencies, and other organizations created under the NLCA.
The online version features multimedia instruction, with text, audio, visual and interactive elements, allowing participants to work at their own pace while providing opportunities for live interactions, on-line forums and discussions. One of the many features that make this course unique is the participation of the people who built the territory. Special guest presenters have included John Amagoalik, Tagak Curley, Paul Quassa, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, and Simon Awa among others.
The course will be offered over four-days. The core content of the course is in the NVision Learning Management site (a Moodle site) and participants will be expected to complete the content that includes short quizzes, forum posts and reflections and participate in two daily 1-hour sessions online with other classmates (Tuesday-Friday). At these synchronous (at the same time) sessions, there will be guest speakers, opportunities to share ideas and ask questions with the facilitators.
