Preparing and Writing Briefing Notes (Online-Zoom)

 

This two half-day course provides an overview of the conventions and best practices for writing briefing notes, using hands-on exercises, case studies and the participants’ own writing samples, as applicable. The focus is on the brevity and precision required in briefing notes, which are often read quickly.

Learning Objectives:

The participants will:

  • Meet the needs of audiences for succinct and appropriate information
  • Employ different types of content, related to the issue statement
  • Reduce the time spent in researching document content and for writing the draft

The course will cover:

  • Three types of briefing notes
  • Development of a sound issue statement, the key message of the note
  • Method for conducting an audience needs analysis
  • Determination of the right amount of information for the audience(s) of a briefing note
  • Organization of the content for ease of reading
  • A clear writing style

Important Note:
