Reporting to the Manager, Informatics Projects, this position is within the Informatics and Planning Division (IPS) which deals primarily with the development of new or enhanced computer systems for all departments with the Government of Nunavut (GN). The Project Manager is also expected to provide liaison with the client department and outside contractors as required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assist the client department in identifying needs for specific project, identify a budget and timeframe as well as develop, advertise and evaluate Request for Proposals; prepare Project Charter; establish a communication plan; prepare a Project Plan and establish a Project team; initiate and monitor any changes in the scope or time; coordinate required training for end users as well as coordinate final signoff for the projects and ensure that post implementation support is in place.

This position requires excellent planning, organization and communication skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work well within a team and as a project team leader. The incumbent will have a degree in Information Management or Information Technology with three (3) years of related project management experience. In addition, the incumbent must have a certificate in project management, preferably from the Project Management Institute of Canada (PMI).

Furthermore, the following will be considered significant assets for the incumbent: Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations applicable to Information Management and Information Technology (Access to Information and Privacy Act, Consulting and Audit Canada standards and others) for systems integrity, reliability and security.

Experience working in rural, remote or northern communities, as well as fluency in Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun, are also considered as assets.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut (Inuinnaqtun), English and French.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
