- conducting interviews and preparing brief written reports on their findings
5. Students will demonstrate proficiency in the mechanics of good writing by:
- preparing and using a general outline to write one or more paragraphs summarizing a given text
6. Students will use media to write to identify, organize and summarize key information by:
- writing brief summaries that capture main ideas
- taking minutes for a variety of meeting scenarios

- identifying proper email etiquette

- exploring the use of appropriate volume, pitch, tone and speed [more than a few sentences, how to say it]

- applying prediction strategies to quickly identify and summarize the main idea and supporting information from reading material
- maintaining a reading log throughout the module
2. Students will improve reading comprehension and retention skills by
- organizing and analyzing reading material content
3. Students will improve reading skills by:
- using note-taking as a strategy to improve retention of information
- reviewing what makes a strategic reader
- using guidelines to prepare a set of notes from text
4. Students will improve visual literacy by:
- understanding the type of information and how it is displayed in various kinds of graphs
- reading and finding visual information displayed in different types of graphs
