Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Executive Services Coordinator (Coordinator) plays a key interlocuter role for the whole of the Department between the Deputy Minister’s office (DMO) and all internal and external stakeholders. The position is responsible for managing the affairs of the DMO, responding to enquiries, which are often urgent and complex, as well as coordinating and executing complex and sensitive activities and providing information and direction to all departmental management staff as required.
The Coordinator provides solutions to various issues affecting the Department by executing appropriate courses of action. The incumbent brings forward issues to be raised at various committees, working groups or task teams, particularly Departmental and Government of Nunavut Executive Management meetings. The Coordinator along with the Administrative Assistant, provides support to the DMO, Policy and Consumer Affairs division and the Local Government Branch staff. The Coordinator also provides functional direction to all administrative support staff across the Department of Community and Government Services as it relates to procedures, requirement, correspondence, and expectations. This position is responsible for assigning daily work and projects, providing advice director and support to Departmental managers and staff.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a high school Diploma, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience providing co-ordination, support services and/or advice to a senior level manager and you must have supervisory experience.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French.
Fluency in two or more of Nunavut’s official language is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
