Reporting to the Supervisor, Home and Community Care, The Home and Community Care Worker II is a member of the Home Community Care Program team and is in frequent contact with the client and family, provides a key link to observe the clients condition and any changes in their support network, reports any observed changes in the client’s condition to the Supervisor Home and Community Care or the Program Supervisor in the community.
The Home and Community Care Worker II assist clients in activities of basic personal care, and if necessary, household management according to an established client care plan; helping clients maintain independence and functioning in their home environment.
An indepth knowledge to aids to assist in activities of daily living, canes, walkers, lifts, transfer boards, etc.; effective oral and written communication; Inuktitut and interpretation skills, basic computer skills, read write and communicate in English and Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun; and a valid drivers’ license.
The knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a completion of Grade 10 education and two years of home care experience; assets considered for this position are training in personal care skills, BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) and First Aid Certificates; an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French.
Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
The ability to communicate in Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun is an asset.
Current CPR and First Air Certificate are an asset
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
