Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervision, training, coaching and guidance of all Housekeeping Assistants at Qikiqtani General Hospital. The Housekeeping Supervisor will act in the role of Manager of Environmental Services when designated.

The Housekeeping Supervisor assigns and supervises the daily work of the Housekeeping Assistants and will produce, post and maintain a master schedule for all Housekeeping Assistant. The position is responsible for ensuring all areas and departments of the Hospital are cleaned and maintained in accordance with regulations, policies and departmental procedures, so that the Hospital is free from contaminants and is well presented to the general public, clients and staff. 

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a high school diploma with a minimum of one (1) year experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor. Extensive knowledge of cleaning methods and floor care is required. Previous experience in housekeeping will be considered as an asset.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French.  Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset.  Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
