Reporting to the Director, Nunavut Emergency Management (NEM), the Office Manager is responsible for a wide range of support services to NEM. The position evaluates and recommends action in regards to the departmental business plan, with particular attention to the Search and Rescue (SAR) Policy and the New Initiative Funding Program (NIF), Disaster Financial Assistance Agreement (DFAA). The incumbent coordinates and monitors the division budget and provides reports and advice to the Director on the budgets for NEM. The Office Manager is responsible for processing payments to community and SAR organizations following SAR and grants and contributions agreements (GCA). This position is also responsible for ensuring all financial records, projects and reporting documentation are completed for follow-up, audit and finalizing of claims for the DFAA program and the National Mitigation Funding Agreement (NMFA).
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and two (2) years related work experience. Project management experience will be considered an asset.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Fluency in two or more of Nunavut’s official language is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
