Reporting to the Manager of Government of Nunavut (GN) Service Desk, the Service Desk Asset Management Officer is a senior member of the GN Help Desk team. The Service Desk Asset Management Officer is to be recognized as a leader in the preparation and deployment of all workstation systems. The incumbent will provide logistical and asset management support for all workstation systems. They will also be called upon to provide administrator duties for Help Desk specific operational tools such as Heat Discovery, Ghost and SCCM. Along with these key responsibilities the incumbent will also act as a backup resource should there be a shortage of Desk-Side Support Officers.

The incumbent takes the lead in mentoring and training other Help Desk personnel and is expected to co-ordinate and oversee the daily activities of staff. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on all newly purchased equipment, software and other informatics assets. Tracking workstation service requests, configuring workstation hardware, researching and developing workstation configuration standards, performing inventory and asset management services are all also key responsibilities for this position.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized Diploma in Informatics technology or related field. The incumbent will also be required to have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an informatics workstation technical support role of comparable size and complexity of the GN. ITIL certification is also required. A+ Certification and experience with Front Range Heat Software is an asset. It is also an asset for the incumbent to have experience working with Symantec Ghost and Microsoft SCCM. 

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. The ability to communicate in Inuktitut is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
