Iqaluit, Nunavut (January 28, 2021) – Today, Nunavut has one new case of COVID-19 in Arviat. There are now 18 active cases in the territory.

“Thank you to everyone who has participated in the vaccination clinics so far. Your example and commitment to the health and wellbeing of all Nunavummiut is appreciated,” said Dr. Michael Patterson, Nunavut's Chief Public Health Officer.

“It’s important that everyone continue to practise all public health measures for the foreseeable future. Public health and community commitment are in everyone’s best interest. If you are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, I encourage you to call your local health centre for more information and to make an appointment.”

All individuals are asymptomatic, doing well and are isolating. Contact tracing in the community is ongoing and public health staff are monitoring everyone in isolation. Nunavut's Rapid Response Team is supporting the community health team.
