Labour Market Transfer Agreements (LMTAs)
Labour Market Transfer Agreements (LMTAs) with the Government of Canada (GoC) support the labour market programs and services offered in Nunavut. These agreements ensure that a greater number of Nunavummiut can access training and employment supports than would be possible with Government of Nunavut (GN) funding alone.
The LMTAs consist of the: Labour Market Development Agreement (LMDA), which provides funding to help Employment Insurance-eligible Nunavummiut prepare for, find, and keep employment through training and skills development; and the Workforce Development Agreement (WDA), which provides funding to support employment services and programs for all Nunavummiut with a particular emphasis on persons living with disabilities and individuals facing persistent barriers to obtaining and keeping employment.
GN programs funded in-whole or in-part from the LMTAs are:
- Adult Learning and Training Supports (ALTS)
- Apprenticeship Training on the Job (ATOJ)
- Employment Assistance Services (EAS)
- Grant for Nunavut Employers (GNE)
- Hamlets Employing Youth (HEY)
- Piqataugitsi Summer Employment for Nunavut Students (SENS)
- Supporting Employment and Training (SET)
- Targeted Labour Market Programs (TLMP)
- Training Assistance Program (TAP)
