Insurance Licenses

Insurers, agents, adjusters, brokers, salespeople and travel agents need to be licensed by Nunavut’s Superintendent of Insurance to sell insurance in Nunavut.

Insurance licences expire annually. Licences for insurers expire on June 30th. Other licences (for agents, adjusters, brokers, salespeople and travel agents) expire on September 30th. Individuals and firms who wish to renew licences should apply to the Office of the Superintendent well before the deadline to ensure their application is processed in time.

Please refer to the

Insurance act as of Jan 13, 2014

and associated regulations for information about Nunavut’s licensing requirements.
