Bivalent COVID-19 vaccine available to Nunavummiut 18 and over
The Department of Health is announcing that Moderna’s bivalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccine is available as a booster to all Nunavummiut aged 18 and over.
The bivalent vaccine can be given at the same time as the flu shot.
At this time, the bivalent vaccine is given only after 3 to 6 months have passed since the primary series or previous booster dose. The bivalent vaccine is available to all Nunavummiut 18 or older who have had at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Previous COVID-19 mRNA vaccines continue to be available to all Nunavummiut six months and older and appointments for first, second or booster shots can be made by calling your local health centre or Public Health unit.
In Iqaluit, Iqaluit Public Health is offering bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccinations by appointment only, Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
If you have questions about the vaccine, call the COVID-19 hotline at 1-888-975-8601 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST from Monday to Friday, or visit COVID-19 Vaccination.
COVID-19 vaccine is our best protection to reduce the risk of severe disease, hospitalization and death.
