Measles Immunization

Last updated Friday, April 5, 2024

The Department of Health is reminding Nunavummiut about the importance of keeping up to date with immunizations. It is especially important that children receive routine immunizations on time to protect them from serious vaccine-preventable diseases.

With measles cases rising across Canada, it is important to protect the most vulnerable members of our families and communities – our children, Elders, and those with weaker immune systems or who haven't received all their vaccines. By ensuring our measles vaccinations are up to date, we can do our part to keep Nunavut healthy and safe from the increasing threat of measles outbreaks.

To make sure your family’s vaccinations are up to date, contact your local health centre or public health unit.

Learn more about measles by reading the measles factsheet available on the Department of Health webpage or the Government of Canada’s Canadian Immunization Guide.
