QEC proposes changes to utility rates

The Utility Rates Review Council (URRC) of Nunavut received a General Rate Application from Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) on March 24, 2022. The application was forwarded by the Minister Responsible for the Qulliq Energy Corporation for the URRC’s review and recommendation.

In the application, QEC has proposed changes to rates for test year 2022/2023 that would see a 5.1% increase. This would begin a realignment of the existing community-based rates to phase in territory-wide rates. A summary of the proposed rate changes for each community are available at https://www.qec.nu.ca/ or by request to the URRC.

Information sessions about the proposed rate changes will take place between May 30 - June 3, 2022, over Zoom. Reservation is required to attend. Please email the URRC at @email to confirm your participation before May 20, 2022. An interpreter will be available for this session.

Written submissions or comments from the public or private sector regarding these proposed rate changes can be sent to @email or to:

URCC Executive
Box 1000, Stn 200
Iqaluit, NU, X0A 0H0.

The deadline for these submissions is 5 p.m. EST on June 17.

QEC’s General Rate Application can be found at https://www.qec.nu.ca/ and is also available upon request through either the URRC or QEC.
