Media Spokesperson/Presentation Skills Training

 

Being an effective spokesperson requires more than media response lines.  Making an effective presentation isn't just about having good looking slides.  Giving engaging speech isn't only about having a well written text.  In all instances, it is also about understanding what you want to achieve, your audiences and, above all, yourself. 

 

This course will help you to be engaged, and comfortable in front of the media or an in-person audience, without having to "put on an act."

 

Media Relations

  • the use of plain language for the media;
  • what news is and what reporters look for;
  • how different media collect and present information in different ways;
  • the perception and needs of different audiences;
  • the elements of a message, and how to prepare and deliver them effectively without sacrificing authenticity and accuracy;
  • dealing with critical or sensitive issues;
  • preparing for an interview and anticipating the questions;
  • dealing with muddled or difficult questions;
  • handling aggressive interviewers. 

 

Public Speaking

  • the use of language appropiate to the audience;
  • the definition of an effective speaker/presenter;
  • how to set meaniningful objectives for the presenter and the audience;
  • ideas - what they are and how to develop and use them as the key themes;
  • how to better understand your audience and tailor your content and delivery accordingly;
  • how to tell an effective story and structure your content so that audience can follow;
  • visual aids and speaking notes;
  • verbal and non-verbal delivery;
  • handling question and answer sessions; and
  • handling disrupters and distracters.
