Afternoon closure for GN offices during Papal visit

Warning: Topics discussed may be distressing to some individuals.

In support of its employees and to allow them to participate in the Papal “Walking Together” visit to Iqaluit, all Government of Nunavut (GN) offices will be closed from noon to midnight local time on July 29, 2022.

During this visit, the Pope will issue an apology to survivors, their families, and communities for the role of the Roman Catholic Church in the spiritual, cultural, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children in Catholic-run residential schools.
