This initiative, supported by federal funding administered by the Government of Nunavut, focuses on creating new licensed child care spaces and reopening child care centres that have been closed for at least three years. Over $800,000 in funding is available for distribution.
Who can apply:
- Licensed child care centres.
- Individuals interested in opening a licensed family home daycare.
- District Education Authorities and Commission scolaire francophone du Nunavut.
- Hamlets.
- Non-profits and non-governmental organizations.
Eligible construction and renovation projects and activities may include:
- Creating new licensed child care spaces in Nunavut.
- Reopening licensed child care centres that have been closed for at least three years.
Submissions will be reviewed by The Department of Education's ELCC Division starting on May 24, 2023. Proposals submitted after May 23, 2023 will be considered if funding is still available. Priority will be given to underserved communities with limited or no existing licensed child care centres.
