COVID-19 identified in Kimmirut

Iqaluit, Nunavut (January 22, 2022) – Dr. Michael Patterson, Nunavut’s Chief Public Health Officer is announcing 35 new reported cases of COVID-19 in the territory, including one new case in Kimmirut.

There are currently 230 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in Nunavut – 38 in Arviat, 36 in Baker Lake, 20 in Cambridge Bay, one in Chesterfield Inlet, eight in Coral Harbour, one in Gjoa Haven, two in Igloolik, 33 in Iqaluit, one in Kimmirut, 18 in Kinngait, 15 in Naujaat, one in Qikiqtarjuaq, 20 in Rankin Inlet, six in Sanirajak, 22 in Sanikiluaq, five in Taloyoak, three in Whale Cove.

There have been 428 total reported recoveries in this outbreak. There are no changes to current public health measures in Kimmirut.

Premier P.J. Akeeagok and Dr. Patterson will hold a live COVID-19 update at 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, January 25. Tune in on the Legislative Assembly TV channel, at http://video.isilive.ca/nunavut/ or on radio in Iqaluit at 92.5FM.

Anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms is advised to call the COVID hotline at
1-888-975-8601 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. EDT or notify their community health centre right away by telephone. Please do not go to the health centre in person.
