East Wing of Qikiqtani General Hospital officially opened

Iqaluit, Nunavut (March 15, 2017) – The official opening of the renovated East Wing of Qikiqtani General Hospital (QGH) was marked today with a ribbon cutting officiated by Nunavut’s Minister of Health, George Hickes.

"The newly renovated East Wing of the original Baffin Regional Hospital in Iqaluit compliments the newer Qikiqtani General Hospital with modern infrastructure and space," said Minister Hickes. "The hospital is a focal point in the community. It is also exciting for our health staff who are once again together in the same facility to provide quality health care services to our clients in the Qikiqtaaluk region."

The East Wing is now the location of out-patient services such as the rapid access walk-in clinic, specialty clinics, oral health and administration support staff. Fourteen examination rooms and one procedure room are currently operational.

Clinics and administrative support staff moved into East Wing last fall. Renovations to this section of the 50-year-old facility were completed in 2016.
