Investigation finds the Government of Nunavut actions against TT Enterprises appropriate
IQALUIT, Nunavut (March 7, 2011) – The investigation into the appeal of last fall’s revocation of TT Enterprises’ outfitter’s licence finds Government of Nunavut actions correct and necessary.
“We have concluded that the steps taken by department officials under the Outfitter Regulations in the summer and fall of 2010 to have been correct and necessary based on the seriousness of the issues raised in the complaints,” said Economic Development & Transportation Minister, the Hon. Peter Taptuna. “In view of the serious concerns that were expressed regarding the outfitter’s actions and the need to protect the public from harm, my department officials took the time necessary to assess and investigate these issues in order to ensure the public was not at risk.”
Following this review the department has identified conditions for tourism operators which, if fully satisfied by TT Enterprises, would permit the company to obtain an Outfitter's Licence for the 2011 operating season. These conditions apply to all outfitters and tourist establishments operating in Nunavut.
Once all conditions are met, the Department of Economic Development & Transportation is prepared to process the company’s application quickly in order to ensure operation in the 2011 season.
