Iqaluit Alluriarvik Justice Committee seeking members

The Iqaluit Alluriarvik Justice Committee is currently looking for members to be formally appointed by the Minister of Justice.

Justice committees in Nunavut use a community-based justice approach to work with people who have caused harm by committing an offence, and to assist victims.

Applicants should have knowledge and experience in restorative justice and in dealing with social issues. They should also have knowledge of and an appreciation for Inuit values, and should be sensitive to helping victims and offenders.

Training outlining the roles and responsibilities of justice committee members will be provided. Committee members are volunteer positions with honoraria for attending meetings. Deadline for submission is June 30, 2016.

If you are interested, please submit your resumé and criminal record check to the community justice outreach worker (CJOW) in Iqaluit.
