Passenger on inbound flight to Iqaluit confirmed negative

Iqaluit, Nunavut (January 20, 2021) - Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Mike Patterson today released the following statement:

“Today at approximately 3 p.m., I was informed that tests given to the passenger from Ottawa earlier today have come back negative, confirming the original test result was a false positive.

All passengers on today’s flight FAB101 from Ottawa to Iqaluit have been cleared by public health. I would like to thank the passengers for their cooperation and patience, and our staff who continue to work tirelessly.

COVID-19 is still a very real risk to our communities, and we must make certain we are prepared. We need to remain vigilant in following the public health measures in place to lower the chance of the virus entering Nunavut again. I urge all Nunavummiut to get the vaccine as soon as they are eligible.”
