Protect your home and community from poisons and solvents

To mark National Poison Prevention Week, March 20-26, Nunavummiut are encouraged to protect themselves and their loved ones by helping prevent poisonings in their homes and communities.

Most poisonings in Nunavut are due to the abuse of solvents and prescription medications. Stop poisonings by:

1. Clearly labelling all household products, chemicals, cleaning supplies and medications, and storing them out of children’s reach.

2. Talking to your family about the dangers of solvents, medications and household products, and warning them about the dangers of sniffing, huffing and abusing solvents.

If you would like more information about poisons and solvents, or if you suspect a case of poisoning, please contact your local health care centre.
