Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness Week

Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness Week is February 11-15. Sexual health is an important part of our overall well-being, and the Department of Health encourages Nunavummiut talk about it openly!

This year’s theme is Sexual Health at all Ages. This means that all Nunavummiut need access to age appropriate and accurate information about their sexual health. Sexual health education is important to help reduce the stigma around birth control, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), STI testing, and other issues related to sexual health.

The Department of Health has developed sexual and reproductive health resources on birth control, STI testing, consent, healthy relationships and condom use.

We all have a role to play in making sure that our communities are well informed. For more information about sexual health, or how to talk about sexual health with your children, grandchildren, students, friends and partners, please visit your local health center, or go to www.irespectmyself.ca.
