Waste Reduction Week Challenge

The Department of Environment is challenging Nunavummiut to participate in Waste Reduction Week from October 19 to 25.

In keeping with Avatittinnik Kamatsiarniq – care and respect for the land, animals and the environment – Waste Reduction Week 2020 encourages us all to practice the five Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle and Repurpose.

Get creative with food leftovers, bring your own bag when you shop, and support community thrift stores and sell/swap pages. Before discarding used goods consider refurbishing or repurposing them.

Visit the Department of Environment’s website at https://www.gov.nu.ca/environment to learn more about how you can make a difference in your community, and share your ideas on social media using the hashtag #WasteReductionWeek.
