The Arviat Airport is a small public use airport which serves the community of Arviat. The airport is located 1 km south of the Hamlet of Arviat. The airport serves as a port of call for air carriers offering scheduled and charter passenger service.
Airport Description
The airport has:
- one gravel runway, taxiway and apron
- runway (15/33) is 4004 feet in length by 100 feet in width
Operating Conditions
The airport is available for:
- 24 hours, seven days per week
- both Day and Night VFR and IFR operations
Hours of Operation
The airport has operational staff on-site during regular published hours. Call-out procedures are available outside of regular working hours.

The airport weather and aircraft advisory services are provided by the Community Aerodrome Radio Station (CARS). The CARS service is managed by Nav Canada. Listing of exemptions / deviations / authorizations
- Runway edge lights installed higher than standard (70 cm or approx. 27 inches high located 5 feet outside runway edge).
- Although runway length to Code 3 standards, TP312 3rd Ed. 2.1.5 Note allowed for an increase of 500' or less without requiring other physical characteristics to be modified from Code 2 to Code 3 and the airport to remain Code 2.
- Road crossing approach to Rwy 15 limits clearway to 500'.
