What is a Driver's Abstract?

The Driver Abstract confirms information from an individual's driving record that includes: name, address, date of birth, height, weight, sex, MVID number, operator license number and issue date, expiration date, class, current demerit points, suspended status, reinstatement conditions (if any) and the list of violations (if any).

How do I get a Driver's Abstract?

You can apply for a Nunavut driver's abstract report at a Motor Vehicles Division issuing office in the following communities:

  • Iqaluit
  • Rankin Inlet
  • Cambridge Bay
  • Gjoa Haven

You can reach these offices by dialing the toll-free number 1-888-975-5999. In all other communities, you can apply at the local Municipal Liaison Office (MLO) or Government Liaison Office (GLO).

Please use the following form to request a Driver's Abstract, a vehicle search, and/or an accident report. Please indicate which information you are requesting in the form.

If you are not picking up or arranging for delivery of the form to yourself, please submit a separate signed letter authorizing the release of the information that you are requesting.
